Welcome to Winter Session 2017!!
Welcome to the 2016 Fall session, although it still feels like tennis weather. I’m sure the cooler, paddle temps are right around the corner. If you haven’t signed up for Court the Cure, there is still time. It is a great way to kick off the paddle season and support a good cause. Thanks to Liane and Debi for spearheading the event and thanks to Talbots Old Orchard for supporting us and a great cause. See below for more information.
The North Shore Women’s Paddle Tennis League continues to grow and is one of the largest leagues in the country. The League has added twelve new teams for the fall; from Series 3 to Series 15 and a new team in our Southwestern Series. Sorry to say, we did lose four teams through injuries and attrition. We also added a new club to our league – welcome Park Ridge Country Club. They are putting the finishing touches on their paddle hut and will begin hosting matches after the break. With growth, comes challenges .and the Board will be brainstorming this fall as to how to handle our growth without discouraging it.
Our Board has several new faces this season. Please welcome Karen McGowan, Lisa Murray and Leslie Parsons. I also want to thank Ann Franzese and Michelle Abrahamson for all their hard work and commitment to the league these past years.
I would like to express my thanks to all league players and to the many volunteers - team captains, facilitators, club coordinators, tournament chairmen, tournament volunteers, donors, pros and my fellow Board Members. Without you our league would not be the fabulous one it is!
